HISTORICAL FARMHOUSE renovation and decorating

HISTORICAL FARMHOUSE renovation and decorating

This century old farmhouse was completely renovated from head to toe. We joined forces with Home Star BC to transform this dilapidated building into a warm family home full of West Coast charm. The kitchen was expanded with an addition to create the eating area. The PlaidFox Studio team added textured cement tile, a swinging Dutch door and an antique brass central lighting fixture to maintain a country feel. We salvaged wood from an old barn on the property to create gorgeous wood clad walls. Injecting an equestrian aesthetic throughout each room harmonizes the space. Keeping the entire project bright and functional was among our top priorities. We transformed a storage room into a new modernized Master Bathroom. Elements including marble, brick, reclaimed wood and limestone collaborated with Herringbone white-washed floors to create an eclectic finish. Personality shines through with the sky blue cabinetry and crystal sputnik-inspired fixture located above the bath. We had a blast revamping this space and making the homeowners’ vision become reality.

WEST END APARTMENT renovation and decorating

WEST END APARTMENT renovation and decorating

We began with thriving retro beachside apartment and injected a modern West Coast redesign with Whistler inspirations. Our bachelor homeowner worked with the Studio team. He was seeking a clutter-free space that could incorporate his Scandinavian heritage. With a keen eye for detail, it was important to start with a clean slate. Together, we stripped the home of previously loved finishes to make room for a more functional and streamlined space. Clean lines and a minimalistic vibe replaced the once over-adorned space. It is always essential to maintain personality when renovating and redecorating by carefully choosing items that tell a story and represent who lives there.

LUXTON SQUARE new construction and decorating

LUXTON SQUARE new construction and decorating

Establishing a space that stands out in the real estate market can be challenging. It is necessary to offer both personality and sellable features that will speak to potential clients. We decided to marry West Coast style with Scandinavian simplicity for the ultimate appeal. A neutral palette does not have to be synonymous with boring. We added some drama by choosing an oversized hood vent custom made from stainless steel, alongside a six-foot enamel-ceiling fan to establish a stylish foundation. With five bathrooms in this home, it was necessary to create unique yet harmonized spaces. The Studio team met weekly with the builder and subsequent trades throughout the construction and redesign process. Personality shines through every room with stylish wallpaper, tile and stone finishes. A 13-foot glass orb chandelier, along with other eye-catching lighting fixtures infuses additional personality. The team wished to create a timeless West Coast creation. The home was placed on the real estate market as a fully furnished, welcoming space. The modern vibe is a refreshing update from the typically lifeless interior of most showhomes.

Residential Home Design

Residential Home Design

The view from the master bathroom may very well make you take more frequent trips to the loo than in previous homes. It was important to keep as many of the original features of the home while working with a restrictive budget. A freshly updated space was achieved by adding different gold accents and a coat of bright white paint.

The claw-foot tub, along with its golden hardware invites you to soak after a long day. Enjoy the ornately trimmed window showcasing the view. Notice the custom upholstered seating that utilizes the identical fabric that is found on the bed in the master suite along with numerous pillows. Typically, you could use many more pillows on a window seat; however, the single choice here keeps the view open to the mighty Pacific.

We chose statement pieces and an abundance of colour to inject some much-needed personality into this home. Plain walls were covered with wallpaper, along with foil and pattern treatments to enhance a bright atmosphere. Local artists’ online shops, Vancouver boutiques and numerous galleries offered the ideal final changes. The decadent feather filled couch is custom velvet and feels as amazing as it looks!

Originally, a dilapidated lakeside bungalow with shag carpet and damaged wallpaper, the Studio team transformed this beachfront home into a modern oasis. The homeowners completely renovated and refurbished the cabin and the PlaidFox team handled the decorating. The team used elements such as aluminum panels, salvaged wood and fresh wallpaper to update the aesthetic. The main vintage photography pieces were discovered at the local archives by our team and add a unique historical reference to the home. We capitalized on the sensational views by choosing finishes and décor that added to the lakeside vibe. Keeping with a relaxed feeling, we chose fun pieces to accessorize the cabin. Artistic elements blend with high-end design to deliver modern flair to this mid-century home.

Midcentury Interior Design

Midcentury Interior Design

A three level town home renovated and decorated for a young Coquitlam couple and their new-born baby girl. Midcentury colors, playful furniture pieces, punchy artwork and not-so-shy wall treatments give this detail heavy space a not-so-serious vibe. Think Palm Springs, but in fall-formal wear.

JERICHO BEACH decorating

JERICHO BEACH decorating

This rental property proves that even a temporary space can still reflect the design and personality of those who live there. The PlaidFox team was hired to decorate this space as the fox was the homeowners favourite animal. We enjoyed incorporating this famously sly creature into the décor and artwork throughout the home. We decided on implementing few permanent elements, as this was a rental space. New wallpaper and lighting fixtures were added along with salvaged unique items to create a family inspired space. Rugs, toy storage and fabrics were among the top priorities to add function and increase harmony. Working within a short timeline, the Studio team bonded even further under pressure to deliver all of the elements in time for the move in date.

Luxury Interior Designed Home

Luxury Interior Designed Home

Built to be the epitome of British Columbian large-home-luxury, this 6,000 square foot home is an updated take on the country-lodge concept. With a slant on entertaining, the open concept necessitates a clear design language as you move from room to room. We got after this with a palate of warm greys combined with navy blue and gold pops. Except for the new baby's room. There, we went bright, cheery and bold. Check out the paint-job, it almost gave someone carpal tunnel, but we think it was well worth it.

HOMER ST. decorating

HOMER ST. decorating

We married these two homeowner’s diverse tastes consisting of ultra modern chic and rustic country to create a uniquely inspired space. We combined sleek classical pieces with oversized wooden furniture and choosing dark tones for the walls to direct the eye towards the view instead of the décor. Adding a mirror within the front entrance with new lighting features helps to keep this space cheery amongst the dismal Vancouver winter skies. Opting for a clean, hotel vibe was the ideal choice for these homeowners who consistently travel overseas, allowing them to return to a functional and homey place.

Contemporary Farmer's Market

Contemporary Farmer's Market

The last thing this photo looks like is the checkout lane in a grocery store. In fact, if you didn't notice the point of sale system located in the left of the shot, you might miss the counter all together. This was the entire point for this vintage farmhouse project. We wanted to celebrate the frontier history of old western Tsawwassen.

To accomplish this design, we used a variety of various wood; particle board strips, plywood's, and 2x4's to create the wall. Our contractor meticulously arranged this mishmash of salvage wood, attached everything together neatly and used a few layers of black paint wash to provide an aged appeal. The stunning outcome has now become a staple feature in every one of the Meridian Farm Market stores.

Layered in salon style is an assortment of local vintage photos displaying Tsawwassen in their hay day. Antique horseshoes and numerous salvaged antique windows adorn the wall. The checkout counters are POS systems are encased with barn style wood panels to complete this style.

Open Concept Interior Design

When you overlook the tan polished granite countertops of this airy kitchen, you can see clear through to the main living space within this Chandler, Arizona desert home. Thanks to the open concept, everything flows well.

We chose to keep the existing countertops in order to maximize our budget. Adding some black wood and wicker tall stools gives this area plenty of contrast. The matching pendant lights provide additionally help to anchor this space. This high counter helps to maximize the space by adding some fun seating. Family and guests can sip a glass of wine here while people are cooking or sitting at the main table.

The bright white walls maintain a neutral base from which we can add pops of delicious color through specific accents such as artwork. The natural beams on the ceiling continue to draw your eyes upwards while harmonizing the wood colored elements in this space.

Arizona House Interior Design

Arizona House Interior Design

The home-owners key requests for this space were incorporating opulent, white and Parisian elements into this space. We are advocates of a dramatic bedroom. After all, if you can't have an opulent bedroom, then how can you fully relax and feel like you are on vacation within your own home?

Oversized down pillows, fake fur throws and the delicate plush carpet engross you with texture; creating a rich escape. We wanted to create a rich getaway where you could cozily spend an entire day if you wished.

The master suite features not only this deluxe king sized bed but an additional sitting area as well. The white upholstered sofa offers a traditional element to the space, while offering additional seating and opportunities to relax.
